Idolmaster Xenoglassia I
Well, I’ve gone and done it now. Started another series. This time, Idolmaster Xenoglassia. One hell of a hard to spell name. Not quite as bad as Utablabla, but close. (I still can’t spell that one, and honestly I’m not sure I got this one right..) The catch is it’s not too long a name, it’s just a bit difficult to work out all the ’s’es and whatnot.
Interestingly enough, I noticed something during the opening episode. In almost every semi/completly post apocalyptic world, there are always buildings left in the ocean. Always. Now, I can understand this say, if the level of technology has been reduced to about zilch.
However, in this case, it seems like they’re pretty decently getting along. I know it looks pretty cool, but strictly speaking isn’t that environmentally terrible. Further more, in a hundred years, concrete, and specifically the steel reinforcement within would have rusted out and crumbled with constant exposure to salt water. At least that’s my take.
Also looking at a bit of the world post moon explosion, cell phones. They’re not really cellular. Wire them up during periods of high interference. Honestly, that’s entirely changing the mind set of the population. I think a more realistic thing would be someone coming up with a better antenna, or putting towers closer together. Doing it the way it’s done seems like a major paradigm shift.
I don’t really seem to remember any sort of indication of time for the moon exploding though, so it’s more like it’s a parallel universe in the distant but not too distant future. I guess they can bend the rules some. They do have giant mecha after all. (With a moderately cool launch sequence. “Act On” is stupid though.)
For some reason I also seem to remember seeing a few more basketballs than one usually does, generally while people are talking some where. Something like that. I wonder if I’m seeing things or if there’s some sort of cool metaphor going on.
Giant explosion in which Ami’s sister disappeared along with the iDOL. Operatic music, along with silence and a flash of light. That’s how explosions are supposed to be done. Haven’t seen it like that in a while.
The captain. By far one of the most interesting characters. He’s an old dude surrounded by a young staff and he hasn’t gone crazy. He also talks about saving the world without anyone knowing being cool. And his swimsuit at the beach is a brief one. I smell a character here.
Makato is really masculine too. It’s a bit freaky. I have to keep reminding myself that she’s a girl. She’s got no chest to speak of, and she keeps using boku. At least she does have a cute side, with the crabs. She’s also a bit cute with Haruka comes to visit.
Yukiho has a very evil sense of humor while half asleep. Then there’s the iDOLs. Flashing eyes. A lot. Flashing red eyes. Flashing green eyes. They flash all the time. That’s probably the most noticeable aspect of them. Sometimes they flash by themselves. (That’s cool.) Generally they flash when you start to get going.
So far though it’s a pretty interesting series. Not quite clue your face to the TV interesting, but enough to keep you watching it. (That made no sense, but there you go.)
